Issue #11: Mini Travel Guide for Bellingham, Washington
Plus the TikTok that had all my friends' swooning, 40th birthday trips and A.I. chickens
First up, some housekeeping: I’m on vacation next week, so there will be no Friday newsletter. I’m choosing my family and friends, who are traveling very far to visit the island, over reading the internet. I hope you choose your friends and family, too! There will be a special Thursday edition next week, which is already written.
Thanks for sticking around for the ride, while I figure out how to live my life, get paid and write this all at once! If you like these newsletters and want even more of them, subscribing is a great way to let me know.

I had a lovely weekend in and around Bellingham, Washington last weekend that I’ve been excited to tell you about. I live on a small island in the Pacific Northwest, and Bellingham is one of the cities that we go to when we need a weekend “in America.” Since I know lots of you don’t live in this area, here is a map.
Everything on island is about 30% more expensive than the mainland, so we go every six weeks or so, to do things like go to Costco, and also try to tack on something fun. This time, we went to a mountain and music bike festival in Bellingham.
Most of these recommendations are places we explored this weekend, but since this is my third or fourth time in Bellingham, there’s some other spots, too.

WHAT TO EAT

YunGaNe Korean: While I can’t speak for the brick and mortar restaurant, their Saturday farmer’s market stand offered gimbap with kimchi that was so refreshing. Exactly what I needed after a night when I stayed up until midnight, which I do approximately twice per year.
Buu Chan: Another farmer’s market find! They source 75-85% of their food locally (something I adore about the Pacific Northwest in general) and the sugar snap pea kimchi was out of this world. Bonus: you can order online!
